Story
Agathe von Trapp is growing up happily with her six siblings on a splendid estate near Salzburg. But after their mother's premature death, Agathe – the eldest of seven children, who loves singing more than anything else – decides to never sing again. Then Maria enters the life of Georg, the von Trapp patriarch, as governess and as new woman at his side. Agathe is jealous of Maria, but the fascist threat spreading throughout Europe binds the two women in an effort to protect their family.
Meanwhile, Agathe's acquaintanceship with a great singer helps her rediscover her voice. World politics enter the von Trapp home as a passionate Hitler supporter must confront a member of the Resistance... Since Georg has lost his entire fortune, Maria and Agathe organize the first fund-raising von Trapp family concert at the Salzburg Festival. The concert is a success, but the family has defied the stage ban imposed on the family by the fascists, and they must flee in the dark of night.
Hintergrund
Die Trapp Familie und ihre bewegende Geschichte sind international bekannt. In Deutschland war Wolfgang Liebeneiners gleichnamiger Film von 1956 mit Ruth Leuwerik ein großer Erfolg, das Musical „The Sound of Music“, ausgezeichnet mit fünf Oscars®, setzte ihr ein Denkmal. Vor allem im angelsächsichen Sprachraum, in England, Amerika, aber auch in Japan und ganz Asien ist die Story der musikalischen Familie ein Phänomen, das bis heute zahlreiche Fans an die Originalschauplätze im Salzburger Land pilgern lässt. Es gibt einen regelrechten „Sound of Music“-Hype mit ausgebuchten Touristen-Touren, gerade in Sankt Gilgen am Wolfgangsee ist das Thema aktuell wie eh und je. Produzent Rikolt von Gagern, der dort aufgewachsen ist, hatte schon lange die Idee, das Sujet aufzugreifen – allerdings mit zeitgemäßem Ansatz und neuer Story. DIE TRAPP FAMILIE – EIN LEBEN FÜR DIE MUSIK erzählt die wahre Geschichte der Trapp Familie, wie man sie noch nicht gesehen hat. Die Geschichte hinter dem weltberühmten Film „The Sound of Music“, der in diesem Jahr 50-jähriges Jubiläum feiert. Das Drehbuch von Tim Sullivan und Christoph Silber basiert auf der Autobiografie „Memories Before and After The Sound of Music“ der ältesten Tochter Agathe von Trapp.
